: I can't believe anybody here is comparing the storylines like Starcraft and C&C to Dune...this is like comparing my $5 model airplane to the space shuttle !!!! yes they both fly but there is a big !@#$#%%% difference....O.K. I'm not a multi-player type of guy...which most rts offer their fans....the better the multi-play the better the game..I only like multi-play in games where people can't abuse the game and cheat like chess and other turn-based strategic games that require thought instead of who can move and click the mouse faster...anybody who compares Dune's storyline to Starcraft has not read any dune books or needs to re-read them for you have been brain-drained by all the stupid media hype of how "great" starcraft's storyline was....I felt parts of SC were funny and entertaining at times but in the end it really did feel like warcraft all over again with two new races...
: I eventually grew bored of warcraft also and didn't wan't to play pretty much the same game so i returned it..In the beginning there was no multi-player so they had to captivate you with a good @#$%% game...now they say I know the game sucks but it rocks in multi-player ...so what!!! I like to play games pretty much the same reason i like to read books it takes me somewhere different for a while and i can experience however unrealistically (a little suspension of reallity is in order) fantastical and interesting alternate reality...
: Like i have said before Dune2 for its time was a great game because the game engine was designed for that game only not like SC and C&C and DR which borrowed a game engine slapped a half-baked story and walaaa a new grond breaking game....innovation ha! unique ha! suspenseful ha! surprising Ha! look here is a list of games that are worth your money....CIV2, X-com UFO defense, any RPG game not from the 90's except M&M6 and Fallout and the Ultima and Wizardry series...Dune2000 i will buy because I love F.Herbert and Dune2 was a great game and if I don't like it i will keep it as a collector's item.....I don't like to be so overly critical but I'm an old (30) and experienced gamer and the new games coming out are n=very repetitive and boring and nobody complains or demands something better so here we are six years later and the only improvement to rts games in six years are FMV and a few interface improvements...thats pretty impressive right ???? shove those games up your @##$ i'm getting Dune2000 this afternoon, drink a six-pack (after I put my son to bed)kick some Harkonnen butt for a while then a little commando action will be in order...actually a new game thats a liitle different..later guys

:: I enjoyed reading your post but i had to re butt a couple things.(1) ill take a half baked borrowed game engine over one that is frozen and missing a piston like d2000, regardless of books and storyline, if the game itself is made were its slow and grx are lousy( need to squint to see troops)then all the storylines wont help(not for me anyway) , and as far as a collectors item, i have about 100 games stuffed under my couch i call collectors items(not) any way.....(2)ive tried fallout, civ2,ultima,xcom, and after playing them, i needed a six pack and i dont drink,to me those games bombed, just thinking of them makes me want to run to store and get a six pack, hope you enjoy dune, i wish i knew you , id send you my copy cause its now with my other collectables under my couch..thanx cya
