Oh God, we're back to this again =). I'm probably the last person you'd want to tell you what I think of Dune 2000 when I haven't even bought it. But I can address some other facts.

From what I understand, Dune 2000 is simply an enhancement on the old game, not a new game in any means. It doesn't offer any new advancements in gameplay or technology wise (please correct me if I'm wrong) so the majority of people who're going to buy it will probably be the hard-core Dune 2 fanatics who've been screaming for this updated version for yonks (a very long time).

I'm quite happy to say that I'm not one of these fanatics and will probably never buy the game. I like to feel that I represent, or share the opinion of the non-fanatics who will critisize the game for just that: nothing new. I'd rather spend my money of a new game that has something new in it, like Tiberian Sun, instead of on an 'upgrade' to an older version of a game. It's a bit like Monkey Island with better graphics in my opinion.

Anyways, I'm not trying to make new enemies here (I have enough) but just to share my hopefully unbiased opinion on Dune 2000. Perhaps I'm totally wrong, who knows.

Also, when comparing C&C and Dune 2, I think C&C comes out as the winner.

: Why do you think D2K is so bad? What's gameplay for you? don't tell me C&C had more startegy than Dune2 and don't tell me that C&C was better than Dune2, so what's left? D2K's interface isn't innovative but great, its graphics are goergeos even though they're not TV quality, I've seen many graphics in much better quality which were just ugly. Its music is not redbook quality but it's better than most redbook quality scoores, and don't tell me the gameplay isn't innovative 'coz the units behave so differently than they did in Dune2 that their name is often mainly what they share. Isn't that enough? I tell you what, you're not looking for a game, you're looking for a breakthrough, so you'll never be satisfied, but I'm not looking for the flashiest features, because the depth of the gameplay is what's important, and Dune2 had the best of that, which D2K succeeds, but D2K makes many many changes to the gameplay - you might say that there are several new units now and that each house has a very different arsenal due to the fact that shared units behave differently for each house. What's medicore here? please post an explanation of why this is medicore (I mean it).
